Hugo Campos is a patient advocate and healthcare researcher whose work began after his 2006 diagnosis with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and implantation of a cardiac defibrillator. His work focuses on patient autonomy, critical thinking, and artificial intelligence in healthcare, including the emerging field of Critical AI Health Literacy. He is the founder of ResearchPartner.org and serves in patient engagement and advisory roles with the NIH All of Us Research Program, PCORI’s THRIVE Trial, NIH Nutrition for Precision Health, and UCSF/UC Berkeley Computational Precision Health. He was named a White House Champion of Change for Precision Medicine in 2015 and has been featured in NPR, the Wall Street Journal, TEDx Cambridge, NAM Perspectives, and the Journal of Participatory Medicine.
